Why We Do What We Do?

At the heart of Ginkgo lies a human truth: we heal in connection - not in isolation.

We exist to nurture that connection. To help people return to themselves. To build a conscious culture where wellbeing is lived, shared, and continually renewed.

But connection has a nature of its own. It cannot be forced or engineered. True wellbeing can only support us when we stop trying to push ourselves into change, and instead allow ourselves to be met as we are. Transformation arises through permission, not pressure - when we are welcomed in our most natural, honest state. Only a system that accepts us as we are can genuinely help us grow.

We do this work because we believe in it. And with every practice, every gathering, and every partnership, we bring this purpose to life - together.

Ginkgo is a space where learning, presence, creativity, and community meet - a place where wellbeing becomes a shared culture rather than an isolated personal routine.

We believe wellbeing is not an escape from life, but a way of returning to it. Through practices, gatherings, rituals, and collaborations, we make wellbeing:

  • Wellbeing should belong to everyone — not a privileged few.
We design experiences, gatherings, and practices that are simple, welcoming, and easy to step into. No complexity, no jargon, no barriers. Just real tools for real life, offered in a way that feels natural and inclusive.

  • We believe healing happens in connection. Every program we create is designed to nurture relationships with oneself, with others, and with the world around us. Our experiences invite presence, sharing, and genuine human interaction, because wellbeing becomes deeper when it is lived together.

  • Nothing we do is performative or decorative. Our work is rooted in sincerity, ancient wisdom, and lived experience. We choose honesty over perfection, depth over trends, and realness over polished appearances. Authenticity is not only a value for us - it’s our way of being.

  • True wellbeing must support life, not exhaust it. We aim for practices, partnerships, and experiences that can continue, grow, and nourish over time. Sustainability for us is both inner and outer: a way of caring for our energy, our community, and the environment in a balanced, ongoing way.

Our Inspiration: Where Ginkgo Comes From?

Our name comes from the Ginkgo Biloba tree, a species that has existed for over 270 million years, originally native to China. Ginkgo is a remarkable symbol of resilience, adaptability, and longevity, offering lessons for life itself.

Ginkgo is one of the few trees in the world with separate male and female individuals — much like humans. When city planners began planting only male trees to avoid the strong scent of the female fruit, the male Ginkgos naturally grew female branches to ensure their survival. It was also one of the few living things to withstand the Hiroshima bomb, earning it the title of “Living Tree of China.”

Even Goethe was deeply moved by the Ginkgo leaf. In 1815, he picked a two-lobed leaf from a Ginkgo tree in Heidelberg and sent it to Marianne von Willemer, engaging in a poetic reflection on unity and duality:

Is it one living being,
That has become divided within itself?
Or are there two,
Who chose to be known as one?
— Goethe

He ends the poem with the profound line:
“That I’m one, and also two.”

This elegantly captures the mystery of being both whole and dual - unity in duality.

For us, this is deeply resonant: the Ginkgo leaf becomes a mirror for the human soul reminding us that we can be many parts and still be one, that our wholeness includes our complexity.

As we build Ginkgo Ecosystem, we aim to cultivate that flexible, compassionate resilience: the kind that honors who we are now, while gently nurturing who we are becoming.
